Accepting Applications the Rose of Sharon

The Housing Authority of Savannah is now accepting electronic applications from those age 62 and over for the Rose of Sharon. Applications can only be submitted online by clicking on “Voucher Application.” Hand-delivered and U. S. mailed applications will not be accepted. The waiting list will remain open indefinitely.
The Rose of Sharon at 322 East Taylor Street is part of the Project-Based Housing Voucher Program. This means that rent is based on income. Because HUD has designated these buildings as elderly only, all household members applying must be 62 years of age or older. Applicants will need social security numbers, birthdates and gross monthly income for all household members included on the application. Hitting the submit button will email the application to the Housing Authority and give applicants the opportunity to print a copy for their records. The automatic date and time stamp of the email will serve as the basis for the order of the waiting list.
Applicants must also be United States citizens or have legal immigration status. As their name nears the top of the waiting list, they will be required to verify income eligibility and authorize a criminal background check for all household members.
